these tanks. Sewage is simply
collected in the tanks, and the "run-off water" is fed directly into the ocean with a large orange hose. On the south end of the camp, one homeow-ner has his own con-crete holding tank The large tank co-llects only the sewage from his home, and he was told that he was responsible for disposing
of it. To assist him in this project, the Lange Corporation workers installed
a large grey hose onto the side of the tank. While the hose is not ready to be put to use, it is obvious
that it was attached to the hol-ding tank to provide a means of draining the

The Encanto del Mar property,
located a half mile south of the Trump Baja develop-ment, is marked by a simple sign and a phone number, just off the southbound
lane of the toll road.
Next door to the plush Real Mediterranean project, the tiny En-canto del Mar deve-lopment
looks like a quaint, almost exclu-sive place to buy beachfront property. The simple sign, which only has a Ca-lifornia phone number painted on it, sug-gests that the pro- perty
might be bar-gain priced as well. But, homeowners
are concerned about a number of oddities about the develop- ment, including an obscene statue, jun-ked equipment, and a sewage disposal sys-tem that is best des- |
cribed as "primitive".
The Encanto del Mar development
is own-ed by the Lange Cor-poration, based in California. On the one main street that runs through the small de-velopment, a single pipe connects a se-ries of concrete
re- ceptacles which co-llect the waste and fecal
matter coming from the homes. These receptacles
have lids, and while most are covered, one was left open. When construction
workers nearby be-gan complained of becoming sick and nauseous from the fumes rising from the tank, someone came and put a cover on it. A homeowner near this same tank is now complaining of odors coming
into his home
