Hi Nancy;
A few years ago, I made a comment to a few people
I knew in Baja about the negative coverage in the Gringo Gazette in respect
to events in Baja. I also remark-ed that the woman who was writing
tho-se articles must be crazy tackling some of those powerful lo-cals as she is going to get kicked out of Mexico or killed.
After all, I had chosen Baja as my home, and who |
wants to hear bad news about their pla-ce of residence.
For the past year I tried to get a true picture as to what kind of trends are occurring in Baja. It is extremely diffi-cult as everyone has a vested interest in making
everything sound so rosy. The Gringo Gazette and Maggie's Madness are about the only two sites on the web that are not scared to pu- blish the truth.
I have to recant my original |
comments about you and the Gringo Gaze-tte. You are still crazy, but a good and rare crazy. You have the guts, dedication and integrity to investigate and expose the truth. Something
a journa-list is supposed
to do. Your efforts are appreciated by many. Hopefully, your re-porting will help ini-tiate change
.

It is time for Profe-ssional
Property ma-nagement companies to step up and take over rentals in Rosa-rito.
Americans sho-uld only use Ameri-can based Property Management compa-nies to rent places here. That is only way to safeguard your family's safety.
We rented a place via the internet. When the time came to mo-ve in, the house was not ready, and many things were dirty, bro- |
from the bathroom shower into the kit-chen by way of the heating vent; we ca-lled on that 4 times at $40 to $60 per trip. After losing a compu-ter, vonage phone, battery backup and numerous
other things, we called ano-ther electrician. The house needed rewir-ing, which took 5 da-ys and $2,000. Then we found out that we were paying for wa-ter, electricity and TV for the apartment next |

ken and damaged. Then half of the house flooded, so we called the water truck, re-placed all the water in the pila, and went on. A few days later, the house flooded again. This time we had to replace all the pipes in the ground. Then we had the electrical problem,
you could not use the toaster and the dishwasher at the same time. The water
would come |
door.
We moved out, but we left the place cle-an, filled up the pila, and paid all the final bills. The landlord is refusing to give us our deposit back. We all have breathing problems now becau-se of the mold in the sheetrock.

Dear Editor,
I am writing about the devastating
loss of water from the La Mi- sion estuary over the past year. Water tru-cks are showing up at a rate of over 20 per day and extracting |
3,000 to 5,000 ga-llons per vehicle. That's over 100,000 gallons a day; or 3 MILLION GALLONS a month! The impact is more than evident.
The water fowl have all but vanished and |
yet the trucks keep coming with no regard to the damage they are causing
to our beautiful river.

Hi Nancy,
Bank of America cla-ims that when trave-ling in Mexico, you can avoid the $5 ATM access fee by using an ATM at Banco Santander. This is their official policy. Therefore, as a retiree who uses Bank of America and Santander Serfin be-cause there are no fees, I and many others
were upset by seeing $5.00 withdra-wal fees plus another fee which amounts to 1% of the withdrawal amount showing on my B of A account. This began at end of June/beginning of Ju-ly, and initially B of A tried to say that it was a Santander charge. B of A will agree to reinstate the $5.00, but it always takes another email to get them to reinstate the 1% of amount with- |
drawn. After many emails and two email requests per withdra-wal, Bank of Ame-rica will finally
replace the fees.
Bank of America is now say-ing that it is fixing the system. Unless ma-ny of us keep email-ing and/or telepho-ning B of A, those charges will continue. Keep receipts from all withdrawals
from |
Santander Serfin, it will read Santander.
Sincerely,
MaryAnn VanHoomissen
